PART OF SPEECH EXERCISES for Miss Maisarah @KPTMKB


Here is a brief definition of each of the 8 part of speech.


Noun - are words that name people, places, things, or ideas
Pronouns - words that take place of nouns
Verbs - are words that show action or a state of being
Adjectives - are words that describe nouns or pronouns
Adverbs - a words that describes verbs, adjective, or other adverbs
Prepositions - are words that describe the relationship between a nouns or pronoun and some other words element in the rest of the sentence
Conjunctions - are words that join two or more words, phrases or clauses
Interjections - are words that show emotion

Exercise 1

ADJECTIVE

1.The weather was quite warm so we walked lazily along the shady path near an old cemetery in the countryside. 

PRONOUN 

2.While Josephine nonchalantly ate her huge sandwich, we numbly watched a sly cat as it climbed almost imperceptibly onto the ledge by the sofa and rather greedily eyed a poor little mouse under the chair.

A) Complete the following exercise with a / an or the. Leave blank if no article is needed. 


According to  National Weather Service,  cyclones are 

areas of circulating winds that rotate counterclockwise in  Northern

Hemisphere and clockwise in  Southern Hemisphere. They are generally

accompanied by some kind of  precipitation and by  stormy

weather.  tornadoes and  hurricanes are  types of

cyclones, as are  typhoons, which are  storms that occur in 

western Pacific Ocean.
 hurricane is  cyclone that forms over  tropical oceans and

seas and has  winds of at least seventy-four miles  hour. 

hurricane rotates in  shape of  oval or  circle. 

hurricanes can cause  great environmental damage.  Hurricane

Andrew, which hit  coasts of Louisiana and southern Florida in August

1992, caused  extreme devastation. In terms of environmental

damage,  Hurricane Andrew is one of  most devastating hurricanes

ever to hit  United States. Fourteen people died because of 

Andrew's effects.
